IRAQ MEDIA WARMarch 2003. As the American and British troops cross the Iraqi border, thousands of journalists spread into Iraq and the neighboring countries. They are looking for news, human stories, and any relevant information to be wired, transmitted, or broadcast to every corner of the world. Iraq - Media War follows the journalists who follow the war. How are they doing their jobs? What difficulties are they facing? How do their direct, immediate impressions vary from the edited, narrated reports viewed by TV viewers? How do they react emotionally to the events, the sights and sounds they experience?
Iraq - Media War was filmed in Iraq, Jordan and Qatar. It begins with the first US attack on Baghdad, and ends with the influx of hundreds of reporters covering the looting, chaos and disorder following the end of fighting. Iraq - Media War follows a variety of individuals, each one in his or her journey to the Gulf: A France 2 covering a violent demonstration in Amman, an ARD veteran cameraman looking for action in the Jordan-Iraq border, Al-Jazeera reporters in Doha and Baghdad, shocked by the death of their fellow reporter, and a CBS reporter in Baghdad, torn between the coverage of the proud, victorious Americans, and the tragedies she witnesses in the war-torn Iraqi capital.
